Cannes Croisette
The "Star" of the French Riviera

The South of France is the ideal place to visit with children, and it’s got something for every age group.  From roman ruins, fairy tale castles and theme parks to mountain biking, kayaking, horse riding, swimming and carousels.

If you want to mix a beach holiday with plenty of activities, Cannes is an excellent destination to chose.

Fort Royal – L’Ile Sainte-Marguerite

The fort was build by Louis XIV to protect the coast from the Spanish, but by 1685 it had become a prison.  The most famous prisoner was the man in the iron mask.  You can visit the state prisons and visit the cell in which he was held.  There is also an aquarium and museum about the sea on site.

Shopping

Rue d’Antibes is the place for a shopping fix and is great for teens.  There’s a FNAC for books, CD’s and computer games, and stylish fashion at Pimkie (a French version of Miss Selfridge).  The main department store Galeries Lafayete is on Rue du Marechal Fich.

La Croisette

La Crosiette is the hub of town, the place for strolling up and down to be seen, and if you want to be really cool do it on Rollerblades.  Rollerblades and children’s scooters are available from Alliance Location, 19 Rue des Freres Pradignac (04 93 38 62 62).

The top end of the Croisette is where the Palais des Festivals and mini fairground can be found.
